ALL Q-TEL TELEPHONE NUMBERS TO CHANGE

Dear Friends,

We wish to inform you that today (28th July 2010) onwards all Qatar mobile and fixed line telephone numbers are changed to eight digits in total. This change have already been announced by the regulatory authority, ictQATAR, via the media on 28th March.

The new numbering system is a direct result of the enormous population and business growth that Qatar has experienced in recent years and by undertaking this exercise now it will ensure there is a large volume of numbers available for use in the future.

The change will mean that the first digit of every number will be repeated, so numbers that currently begin with 3, for example, will now start with 33, and those starting with 5 will be 55. This change will apply to all telephone numbers beginning with 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7. For example: 3152145 becomes 33152145; 4829382 becomes 44829382; 5210575 becomes 55210575; 6226881 becomes 66226881 and 7251849 becomes 77251849.

Emergency numbers within Qatar, such as 999, will remain the same. Similarly, numbers used for SMS, toll free and paging services, and numbers owned by the Ministry of Interior will also remain the same. These begin with 1, 2, 8 and 9.

Please be advised that once the changeover takes place on the 28th July callers, within Qatar and overseas, will hear an automated message asking them to dial the correct number. This message will remain in place for at least three months, after this period the call will be rejected.

The country code for Qatar will remain as +974. We will provide you with as much assistance as possible during this transition period and would encourage you to speak to your key account manager to ensure that all necessary changes are undertaken for your business needs.

Customers who have maintenance contracts with Q-Tel for their telephone distribution equipments (PABX, IP Systems, and Key Systems), Q-Tel technical team will take care for any changes/reprogramming required.

Customers who do not have maintenance contracts with Q-Tel for their telephone distribution equipments (PABX, IP Systems, and Key Systems), have to approach their vendors/installers to take care of their working system.
