On the country's 64th Independence day, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh greeted the nation in his speech in Red Fort in New Delhi on Aug 15.
Our Prime Minister addressed on the several issues such as Jammu Kashmir violence, Maoists, price rise, education and many others, which are most important for the country at the present scenario.
He, at first urged the Maoists to abandon violence and appealed them to proceed to dialogue process and to join hands with the government for accelerated social and economic growth in the backward areas."We will deal firmly with those who resort to violence. I once again appeal to Naxalites to abjure violence, come to talks with government and join hands with us to accelerate social and economic development," said Singh.He also mentioned abut the violence in Jammu Kashmir, where youths and people had been engaged in protest. He requested them to give up ferocity and promised them to provide facilities."We are ready to talk with the protesters in Jammu Kashmir. We all need to rise above our personal and political interests to meet this challenge," said PM.He hoped that Pakistan would try to control the terrorists that they do not use its soil for terror attack against India and other parts of the world.
