Carbon Emission & Ozone Layer

Kind Attn : Mr. Sunil Mittal
Chairman
Bharti Airtel

Dear Sir,

Sub : Renewable energy is safe and clean; it can power the world.

We are concerned mobile phone users and over 60,000 users like us have signed the petition asking Bharti Airtel to switch off diesel from its operations. Today we are writing to request you to take leadership in making our telecom industry green and our mobile calls clean. A respected corporate leader like you and your company Bharti Airtel, as a market leader, are well placed to create a shift towards clean and prosperous future. You can help millions of mobile phone subscribers reduce their carbon emission by just phasing out diesel from your mobile operation.

So far Bharti Airtel has not responded to the specific campaign demands for carbon disclosure and clean energy road map (including diesel phase out) made by the public campaign. Therefore, as concerned citizens of this country and mobile users, we urge you to make Bharti Airtel a responsible and clean company by accepting the following demands:

1. Public disclosure of carbon emission of Bharti Airtel’s entire operation by 2012

2. Clean energy use of 50 % in its mobile towers by 2015
3. Complete phase out of diesel consumption from its towers by 2015

We do believe that you will consider the request in earnest and make the necessary commitments to make Bharti Airtel the green corporate of our country.

Yours sincerely,

(Members of INCAS Kannur Dist Chapter)
